SUTTON IN ASHFIELD 11.08.2002
Hi your roving reporter here again, we have had
some light relief since my last report. My under-study Lowes Lain Kilburn was
relieved of her journalistic powers at the last minute as Emley Show was cancelled.
Firstly we all must thank Mick Turnidge for his warning Saturday evening about
the soggy ground and to bring adequate footwear. This was passed on to all concerned
and proper footwear was used. (Sue Kilburn wore proper boots not those polythene
ones she wore at Golcar. Pat had them in her pocket just in case.)
The Golcar show had prepared us for this bad ground, we were given straw to
put on the ground to absorb the water and mud, we also collapsed the spare tables
and used them as hard standings for the chairs. From setting up to handing out
the prizes it was all go' I didn't know whether I was coming or going. It was
a good thing that Barbara Colpman had a couple of hours spare to sell the tombola
tickets.
The only other thing that club members were worried about was: the contents
of a coke bottle Sue Washbrook was drinking from, it looked like the chemicals
that we clean our judging trays with.
